This post is an attempt to explain the site reputation system.

You have reputation points and reputation power.

Reputation points are indicated by green bars on your postbit. http://www.wargeeks.org/images/reputation/reputation_pos.gifhttp://www.wargeeks.org/images/reputation/reputation_pos.gif

All users are assigned 10 reputation points on registration.

For every 30 days that you've been registered on the site, you gain 1 power point.

For every 100 posts, you gain another power point.

For every 100 points of reputation you have, you gain another power point.

If you have LESS than 100 posts, any reputation you assign or remove from someone will NOT have an effect. This essentially makes your reputation power 0. As soon as you hit 100 posts, the other factors that contribute to your reputation power will take effect.

You ALSO need to have a minimum reputation of 10 points before your reputation power applies. You will only have less than 10 points if you have LOST reputation, as the default value is 10.

You may only assign 10 reputation points per day. Administrators are exempted.

You need to "spread" your reputation to 5 other users before you can assign reputation to the same person again. Administrators are exempted.

Reputation power indicates how much reputation you can assign at a time.

How many minuses will you dish
For people not posting in rhyme
Or are they exempt this time?

Ok...now I have confused myself a little more.
1.) When I look at my user cp page. There is that table that shows where u have received per points..right. Why on the top of that table does it say total points 45? What points are those?
2.) Now...I take it that 1 little green bar represents 10 points right?!
Ok... I need to do this:
We have Rep points and Rep power
This is what I dont understand:
When we vote for a person(a good post, so we give them a +1)
Will it go to their point or their power?
I get the part about us getting a Rep POWER point for every 30 days & for the 100 posts. but how do we improve our normla rep points? Is this by the quality of our posts? And just one last thing... If that is right then will it mean that the more points we receive the more green bars we get and the more respected we are.... boy this is funny.
Ok....if you cant explain this to me.. I really do understand :)
I think I do understand it...but I might be confused! :)

Due to the complex reputation issue,
posting in rhyme will require a tissue,
to clean up the mess that will appear
as my brain leaks out of my ear.

Oh dear TG that is no good to me
a stopper for your ear would be
I will however take a tissue
since this has become quite an issue
Peeps are going to think I'm a tard
when actually this is all damn hard! :p

1) Your reputation points. NOT power.
2) No. I don't know what scale is used. I've got over 100 points, so there would be 10 bars. I think it's just a representative scale. Prolly REP/10 or something like that.
When you vote for a person, you give them rep POINTS, not power.
Power is calculated, it is not assigned.
Your reputation is improved by others. Ie, you make a good post, peeps like it, and give you + reputation. And for the remainder of what you said, yes.

A wise person did say
That it's just for a day
I can understand the frustration
Of trying to get an explanation
To the questions you pose
Without having your brain froze
And what we have as a remedy
Is poor English on the altar of expediency
But what does it do and what does it mean
All these little boxes in green?
Some are points from what you articulated
And others are points that are calculated
Some are points for time you have served
And you lose some if people you've unnerved
I don't know what they are for
But I'll try them with the ladies and see if I score
If I could trade them for knife killls
Because I dont' have the skills
That would tickle me pink
'Cos I'd get the badge, I think

@Meg - well, since I didn't notice what your rep power was before your 400, I don't know if it has changed.

Your posts = 4.14 power points.
Your reg time = 4.46 power points.

Rep power = 8.6 (rounded up to 9).

but surly it should be the starting 10 ??

that said i feel i need to realign my zen,

riddle me this wtf do rep points do?
other than make me greater than you?

in terms of power
(of which it seems you can gain by the hour)

what privalages do you get with this reputation
is it worth much exclimation ?
or just hesitation?

because why oh what do they do?
besides looking like green goo ?

...ok so i lost the plot
and no... im not

...mad

There is reputation power and there is a reputation point.
The two, seeming alike, are not joint.

The zen-like 10 is a point not a power,
so take a breather and go have a shower.

Will it cure me of AIDS?
Or make me popular with maid(en)s?

Will my neck grow three meters?
Or will I be sung to by the four Peters?

All these and more,
Tomorrow in store :p

(Seriously, do reputation points do anything? I seem to have a couple..)

In essence, reputation does nothing as far as the site goes.

At TG...this not be entirely True
as I 've heard that once you get a certain number of points
a special delivery arrives at your door
therefore beware...what you ask for!! :p

thisgeek

A special delivery?
A special package?
One marked with C4 livery?
'tis a tragic tale told
Now I feel all snivelly.
