What started as a MOD for UT has sprung up into the winner of the UT MOD contest. Bringing us the Eastern Front scenario across various maps you get to choose being either German or Russian and being able to select from various classes of soldiers and a nice array of vehicles.
This "unrelated to UT" version of the game (http://www.redorchestragame.com/) works as a standalone available from STEAM (www.steampowered.com).

Dont know if it will become popular among SA servers but its quite hot in the EU and US.
